window film

Window film is a popular alternative to traditional window treatments for providing privacy and reducing the amount of sunlight into the room.
Below are a list of advantages for using frosted window film:
  • It provides a level of privacy, while allowing natural light to enter a room, it prevents people from seeing the inside.
  • It adds a decorative touch to the room, giving the window a modern and stylish look.
  • It's energy efficient by preventing heat loss through windows in cold weather, also reduces the amount of sunlight into the room to keep it cool during hot seasons.
  • It's easy to apply and can be done without professional help, also quite easy to remove, making it a great solution for temporary use (i.e. rental property).
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to apply window film:

1. Use a cleaning solution and a lint-free cloth to wipe down the entire window surface to remove all dirt and debris, and ensure the window surface is clean and dry before applying the film.
2. Use a tape measure to measure the width and height of the window accurately, as this will determine the size of the film needed.
3. Use an utility knife to cut to the window size, leave a little bit of extra film on each side of the window, as this will make it easier to trim the excess film later.
4. Fill a spray bottle with a solution of water and a few drops of dish soap, and spray the window surface, this will prevent air bubbles from forming.
5. Peel the backing off the film slowly, ensure not to crease or fold the film. Use a piece of tape to hold the film in place while you work.
6. Apply the film to the top of the window first, making sure it is centered and level, then work your way down. Smooth out air bubbles with a squeegee, start from the center of the film and work your way outwards.
7. Trim the excess film with an utility knife around the edges of the window, Ensuring a sharp blade is used to make precise cuts to avoid damaging the film.
