Vinyl can be removed by applying heat. Heating the vinyl to soften the adhesive, but not to the extent of melting the top film.
Then lift the corner of the vinyl and peel it off gently. The adhesive will sometimes remain on the surface, particularly if the vinyl has been in place for a number of years.
Adhesive residue can be easily removed using rubbing alcohol on most surfaces. Wet a paper towel or clean rag with rubbing alcohol, and rub the residue to lift it off.
