Below are tips on cutting and weeding sign vinyl:
1. First, do a test cut on the vinyl. Peel back the cut vinyl to check the cut has just marked the silicone layer of the release liner. Then look at the reverse side of the release liner, there should not be a visible impression of the cut, if there is, the cut is too deep and can cause paper de-lamination when weeding, also causing premature blade wear and damage.
2. Cutting depth and weight depends on the film material type, with special materials like PET or sandblast stencil, it may require a greater blade angle at a slower cutting speed, pls. refer to plotter’s manual for general guideline.
3. Correct cutting will save weeding time, and during weeding, short sharp snatches may prove to be the most effective method. It is recommended to weed the graphic shortly after cutting to avoid adhesive bleeding, especially in hot weather condition which makes weeding difficult, both cold or hot condition can prove to be difficult for cutting and weeding.
